Professional local pest control serving Wargrave by local people

Here at All Aspects Pest Control, we are a company that’s local to you; we live in Woodley and we fully understand the problems and the pressures in our area when it comes down to pests.

Having a great deal of local knowledge of the area, our biggest pest issue in Wargrave is with rodents: rats, mice and squirrels. Our local knowledge allows us to quickly pinpoint what pest you have if you’re hearing scratching noises in the loft and locate the entrance for your unwanted visitors.

When we know what the pest problem is then we can correctly plan our method of control to get rid of your animals quickly and permanently. This is one advantage of using a local company rather than a national, we also have quicker turn out times and we provide a more detailed service.

We deal with all pests in the Wargrave area

Wargrave is a small village with just over 3000 people living in it but we will deal with just about every pest someplace in the village at one time or another, from bed bugs to rats we see the usual spectrum of pests as any other community. As a local family run business with three working technicians, we provide a range of pest control services with a rapid callout and these include the following:

Rodent control throughout Wargrave

Rat control in Wargrave

Rats are a big problem in Wargrave and these animals inhabit the drains underground; most people assume that they come from the River Thames, however this is not always the case.

Using our background knowledge of the local area, we can quickly pinpoint the way the rats are getting inside your property, and we use drain inspection cameras as standard to check the condition of the underground pipework. We look to find faults and redundant sections which may be used by the rats and the cause of your rat problem.

Whether rats are coming in via the drains or in through the walls, successful rat control is not about the use of rodenticide, to fully eliminate these rodents from your property you need to identify the entrance and seal it up. This type of pest control is called Integrated Pest Management where we place an emphasis on proofing works rather than just the use of poison.

We prefer to trap rats, removing the animals physically which you cannot do when you use poison as they die just about anywhere and more often than not, that going to be inside the house.

Squirrel control in Wargrave

Wargrave like everywhere else is home to the North American Grey Squirrel; mature oaks and coniferous trees all give these rodents a natural habitat and in the breeding season when numbers start to peak, they will start to look at your home as a place to nest in.

The grey squirrel was bought into the Country during the Victorian era, and since then, the grey squirrel has become a major pest throughout the area, with no predators and a breeding cycle that see’s two separate birthing periods every year, the numbers of grey squirrels are booming across the County.

Female grey squirrels are territorial in nature and so they need to find themselves an empty space for raising their young and that is often, inside a loft. Squirrels are equipped with razor sharp teeth and strong jaws, and they will simply gnaw through wood, plastic, and even thin sheet steel to gain access to the inside of a loft.

Once inside, they shred up the loft insulation and gnaw on electrical cables, causing a great deal of damage. We never poison squirrels but use humane traps that give a quick dispatch and once again, if we can seal their entrance point, we will, in order to prevent further infestations.

Mouse trapping in Wargrave

We only ever trap mice in Wargrave as part of our pest control service, and mice will squeeze through a gap the size of your little finger, and if there isn’t a handy opening, they’re more than capable of making their own.

Mice are part of the rodent family and just like rats, they have strong front incisors that grow out from the root; rodents must grind their teeth to stop them from curling out and preventing their feeding. Mice can gnaw through wooden door frames and plastic air bricks and with such a tiny entrance hole required, many people miss these and resort to the use of rodenticide as a means of controlling mice.

It is illegal to use rodenticide on some species of mice – every chemical we use in the pest control industry, whether in the form of a solid block of rodenticide or a liquid insecticide has a label that governs its usage. This label covers where it can be used, the quantity and the species; here in Wargrave the mice that we see are what’s known as ‘field mice’ and come in the form of voles, shrews, and some species of mice.

This collection of animals forms the basis of the food chain for owls and other raptors so they should never be poisoned, we only trap and seal and this is the best way to control mice in Wargrave.

Mole catching in Wargrave

Mole catching is how I started out in pest control; as a sixteen year old working on a farm over in Hurley, I began catching moles for the farmer and it’s still something that I do. Our mole catching service is done on a basis of ‘no catch means no fee’. If I fail to catch your mole then I don’t charge you for the time taken, and the reason for this is that it is my job to catch the mole and why would anyone pay for something that isn’t delivered?
mole
Mole catching is about patience and understanding the ground, why would you pay up front for mole catching when for one; you don’t know how many are in the ground and secondly, you don’t know whether you’ll catch it or not? No catch no fee for mole catching – makes sense to me.

Wasp and hornet control in Wargrave

Wasp nest removal in Wargrave

Being local is an added advantage for delivering wasp control across the Wargrave area as we’ll happily work over seven days a week. Wasps are a major summertime nuisance and many people are terrified of these yellow and black pests. Wasps start building their nests in April or May when the Queen Wasp comes out of her winter hibernation, the fact that they go unnoticed is largely down to the weather and growth cycles.

Wasps are insectivores and hunt other insects, and they do this better in sunny, warm conditions because of a unique set of cells in their body. These special cells convert ultraviolet light into electrical energy meaning that they become supercharged on sunny days.

The Queen wasp is really just an egg laying machine and as more workers become available to gather in insects, so more food is produced, and more eggs are laid; in a good year there may be several thousand workers all flying in and out of the nest. This means that wasp nests can become huge, and every wasp is armed with a painful sting; a nearby wasp nest can ruin a barbeque and make outdoor life intolerable. So we aim for a callout time of within 24 hours for local wasp nest treatments in Wargrave.

Hornet nest removal in Wargrave

With similar in characteristics to wasps, European hornets are not such a common pest in Wargrave, however these insects are about four times the size of a wasp and make a great deal of noise as they fly about and can be truly terrifying.

Unlike a wasp nest that can have thousands of workers, hornets will only reach numbers in the hundreds at most, being so large, means that the Queen Hornet produces fewer eggs and so colony sizes are much smaller.

With distinctive dark red and deep yellow markings, the hornet packs a savage sting; with three times as much venom as the wasp made up of a cocktail of chemicals and enzymes that hit our pain receptors, our technicians are equipped with the correct PPE to tackle all of these insects.

We would advise against DIY attempts to get rid or wasps and hornets; the stings are painful, and you could make things worse.

All about bee's

When it comes to delivering a professional pest control service in Wargrave, we take an ethical approach to the service we provide, hence why we will only ever trap mice. As an industry we need to think about what we’re doing and why we are doing it and our approach to bee control is balanced on the basis that we will only treat bee’s if there is a life risk to the occupants of the property, and by that we mean, not being allergic as everyone is, but anaphylactic.

Everyone gets an allergic reaction to wasp, hornet and bee stings – it’s the release of histamine that causes the swelling and itching and these symptoms can be controlled with antihistamine pills from the chemist. Bee’s are important to our future as pollinators, and in some cases such as mining bee’s, mortar bee’s and leaf cutting bee’s these insects are completely harmless as they have lost their venom and actually unable to sting.

Unfortunately, some pest controllers out there, see killing bee’s as a form of financial reward; there is no reward in killing harmless pollinators and where possible we will relocate a nest of bumblebee’s rather than kill them.

You can read our blog on bees to see if in fact your ‘pest’ is actually a friend.
