We have three different ways in which we can get rid of wasps for you and these are as follows -
Wasp nest removal iMaidenhead and Holyport
If the wasp or hornet nest is within physical reach of our technician, they will place a bag underneath the nest and inject a pesticide powder into the inside, this powder acts as a nerve agent killing the wasps and is incredibly fast acting; within 15 to 20 minutes the wasps will die and the nest will then be removed. We will remove the nest from your home, you may find a few worker wasps turning up but, without the presence of the Queen wasp giving off her pheromone they have no instructions to defend the nest and so pose no hazard.
Void wasp nest treatment in Maidenhead and Holyport
In many case we find that the wasps' nest has been built someplace difficult to access like inside a cavity wall or down inside an airbrick where there is no direct way of getting to it for the removal. Once again we inject the powder into the void, this will penetrate all through the void finding its way into the nest and here it will kill all the wasps along with the Queen. Those workers that we miss because they're out hunting for insects will return to the nest and come into contact with the powder residue and this will kill them off over a period of 4 to 6 hours.
Non-toxic wasp traps
We also offer traps that you can place around the outside of your property which entice the worker wasps away from your social areas like patios; one advantage of these lures is that they are selective; only attracting wasps and leaving honeybees as these are beneficial. These wasp traps are 100% pesticide and toxin free as well as being completely maintenance free – no cleaning and no emptying; simple hang the trap up, the wasps get drawn in and at the end of the summer you just throw away the trap.

How many types of wasp are there in the UK?
There are many species of wasps in the UK, around 9000 in total and most of these are solitary wasps that only prey on insects and pose no hazard to us; we predominantly deal with the 9 species of colony building wasps and hornets and these are the ones that cause so many problems for people.
We have found a wasp nest in our loft, do they hibernate in there?
The Queen wasp will survive into the winter, the workers all die off in the late autumn, the Queen will find herself somewhere dry and become dormant emerging once again in the spring. The Queens emerge around March or April and begin the process of building a brand new nest; they will not re-use an old nest.
How many wasps will you find in one nest?
The answer to that varies dramatically between the different species and its the Common wasp or the German wasp which have the largest colonies and these can range into several thousand worker wasps. Generally across the different species the numbers are in the hundreds topping out in the low thousand; hornets will have much smaller size colonies although they will pack a greater punch so avoid getting near one of these.
Where do wasps build their nests?
The simple answer to that is anywhere; the Saxon wasp, a new species to arrive in the UK from Europe will build a nest in a bush and these are often quite low hanging. Saxon wasps build a small (think pineapple size) nest which is grey and quite difficult to see in the shade of the bush, we find that a lot of these nests get disturbed by gardener’s when hedge trimming. Wasps will build their nests in cavity walls, lofts and even excavate a nest in the ground and its not uncommon to make a painful discovery of a wasp nest when mowing the lawn. A new species that's just arrived in the very South East of the country is the paper wasp and these build without the iconic outer sheath – they only build a honeycomb.
How do we know if we have wasp nest?
Wasps are insectivores and so when you see them flying about they are searching for insects, a wasp hunting will have a lazy flight pattern, meandering about, often hovering in position. When you have a wasp nest nearby you can see a definite straight flight path – wasps will track in and out; look at dense hedges before beginning any work to see if you spot this activity – there’s a wasp nest inside so be careful.
As professional pest controllers we will not kill honeybees or masonry bees, there are many species of beneficial bee that can be moved away from where they're causing a problem and so we offer a cheaper service to re-home these.
